The Blend
Heartwise is the last bottle in the cabinet and the one closest to the way EIRA thinks about herbalism: the heart as something that carries emotion as much as blood. Hawthorn leads, with albizia, Damask rose, saffron, motherwort, lemon verbena and the folding leaves of Mimosa pudica behind it.
It is floral and softly sour, with a rose note that lingers. Take it in the seasons that are difficult to name — a loss, a change, a year that will not settle.

These botanicals are associated in European, Chinese, Persian and South American traditions with emotional comfort, heart-centred herbal practice, nervous tension and personal ritual through difficult seasons. Hawthorn, of the hedgerow
In Britain the hawthorn is the tree of boundaries — laid in every hedge, flowering in May, and quietly holding the shape of the countryside for hundreds of years. Children eat the young leaves, which are called bread and cheese; the berries were gathered in autumn for the winter. A plant that lives so thoroughly inside ordinary life, rather than in a cabinet, has a different sort of authority, and it is why I let hawthorn lead this bottle.
