The Blend
Deep Rest is an evening bottle, made for the hour when the body has finished and the mind has not noticed. Seven traditional evening herbs sit in it, from the sour jujube seed of Chinese practice to the California poppy that grows along the roads out of the Sierra foothills.
It is floral and slightly bitter, with valerian and hops giving it weight and linden softening the edges. Taken as part of a wind-down rather than as a switch, it belongs to the same unhurried ritual as turning the lights down.
Traditionally Associated With
Valerian, hops, passionflower, linden, California poppy, sour jujube seed and albizia all hold histories in their home traditions associated with restlessness, nervous tension, relaxation and occasional sleeplessness. These are traditional associations, offered here as heritage rather than as promises about sleep.

Botanical Wisdom
Linden, the village tree
In much of Europe the linden was planted at the centre of the village, and everything happened under it: markets, courts, gossip, and the long evening conversations of summer. Its flowers were gathered in June and dried in the dark, then steeped after supper. A herb that grew in the middle of communal life rather than at the edge of it has a particular kind of gentleness about it, and you can taste that in this blend.
A Note from the Herbalist
“I made this one for myself first. I am extremely good at lying awake composing replies to emails I will never send, and this is the blend that gets me out of my own head and into the pillow.”
