The Blend
Growing Grounds is the gentlest bottle in the cabinet. Lemon balm, milky oat tops, linden, chamomile, rosehip, jujube fruit and marshmallow root make a soft, hay-scented blend with almost no bitterness at all.
It was blended for the growing-up years in a household — the seasons when everything is changing at once and nobody can quite say why they are tired. It is a herbal blend, not a children's remedy, and it is not presented as one.
Traditionally Associated With
These botanicals come from gentle European, Chinese and Ayurvedic traditions associated with everyday emotional comfort and nourishing preparations. No safety or effectiveness for children or adolescents is claimed or implied. If you are considering a botanical blend for a young person, speak with their doctor first, and never use it in place of prescribed care.

Botanical Wisdom
Milky oat tops, and the right week
Oats are cut for medicine in a narrow window, when the seed heads have formed but are still green and yield a milky sap if you squeeze them — a stage that lasts about a fortnight. Miss it and you have breakfast; catch it and you have one of the traditional nourishing herbs of European and North American practice. Everything about the plant asks for patience and timing, which is more or less what growing up asks for too.
A Note from the Herbalist
“I blend this for the households where everyone is tired and nobody can name the reason. It is gentle, it tastes like a hayfield, and it is not a children's product — if a young person is in the picture, ask me and ask their doctor, in that order.”
